Decorating a Room With Color

Good JuJu

Decorating a room can sometimes feel overwhelming. You pin posts on Pinterest or find pictures on the internet, then look at your room and try to figure the best way to get things organized and put together. What many of us forget, are how the smallest things in a room can bring it all together or, how the smallest element can add drama to any room or space. For instance, you can take one of those inexpensive gaudy mirrors and paint it and put trinkets in the same color all around it - this adds a focal point to any room.

I love the way this person decided to add lots of color to a plain white wall. They used white shelving to add color groupings of their collectibles along with matching pillows and rug to add pizzazz to their white room.

Multiple Uses for Old Chairs

Good JuJu

How many times have you wondered what to do with an old chair – one that has a broken seat or doesn’t have the bones any longer to use as a sitting chair? Here are just a few ideas to get your creative juices going.

Always remember to put a coat of clear poly (made for outdoors if that's where it will be) over the top of a painted chair to protect the finish.

A missing seat is no problem. Lots of uses for this chair, as is.

Almost Anything Can Be a Planter

Good JuJu

Summer time and cleaning out the garage can bring many creative items to your flower beds. It’s so easy to make an old bucket, galvanized tub, wheelbarrel or about anything else into a cut garden planter.

Just drill a hole in the base for drainage, put rocks in the bottom of the bucket so your plants don't get over watered, then you’re ready to plant. I love using old buckets for herbs as well.  Bonus - many of these old pails are easy to move around if the handle is still attached!
